Read what the particular check is designed to confirm

Verification labels cover different checks. A phone code can show access to a number at that moment; a selfie process compares a person with profile photographs; an identity-document process has its own scope and limits. Bumble explains that its photo verification combines automated and human review. Tinder's ID and Photo Verification page explicitly says that completing the process does not guarantee the validity of an identity document or the safety of a user. Read the explanation attached to the actual badge rather than assuming that it confirms employment, marital status, background or good intentions.

Protect your documents and keep using judgement

Complete any required verification through the service's genuine app or documented website. A match who sends a separate verification link or asks you to forward a login code is not a substitute for the operator's process. Before uploading a document or biometric selfie, check which data is collected, how it is retained and how to raise a privacy question. Never exchange passport scans with strangers as a mutual test of trust. If you encounter an accessibility issue or a rejected check, contact official support instead of buying a verified account. Continue to assess behaviour, boundaries and meeting arrangements even when a profile displays a badge.
